Removing cat questions
Im thinking about removing my converter but how do I avoid the SES light? I enjoyed it removed on my Riviera, it picked up and had a little more growl to it, but it threw a SES light and I hate seeing anything lit up on the dash, even if its windshield wiper fluid.

There are after market sims you can purchase to plug into the O2 connectors on the boddy harness that will tell the system a cat is present and functional. On a 2000 I think you can also have it programmed out of the ECM.

the aftermarket sims are no longer allowed to be sold.
You can purchase a PCM with the rear 02 code deleted, OR you can find some one local to you with a Tuner that will disable the code

First, you need a tuner, such as HP tuner. Second, removing the cat may be a problem if you live in a state that requires emission tests. This will also be a problem when selling the car.

Both. They dont check in Michigan, but one shop told me that they would only cut it off it was blocked. The other shadier shops did it without a second thought. So far Ive had two of them cut off on the Rivieras Ive owned.
Ill have to check into that HP tuner. I dont know of anyone who has one of those. Just the big expensive code scanners.
