Default Horrible 0-60 Time....

My 0 - 60 time is horrible, I'm almost embarrassed to post it here...

A solid 13 seconds.....

Here'* a list of the mods I've done, performance ones that is...
-2.5in exhaust from manifold back
-high flow cat
-magnaflow dual exhaust (two tips)
-K&N air filter
-new engine, slightly bored out (brand new VIN C engine installed at the dealer in 2000)
-new spark plugs, new wires
-larger alternator (from an ambulance)

I normally keep the car in Over Drive, and/or Drive when I run.

Here'* what happens....

Engine revs up... if I let off the gas I can get it to switch gears before it red lines.
Otherwise it goes deep into the red before it shifts, feels faster when I put it in the red.
It goes through all the other gears with out any real issues (no real red lines)

But when I hit 100kph / 60mph, my time is 13 seconds.

This slowness off the start maybe related to some other issues I'm having

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...pic.php?t=5662

On the highway not much can touch me. It'* nothing for the car to do 100-110mph, and I've had it upto 137mph. (The car hates hills though... too much metal....hehe)

Anyways, any ideas?

(I'm really wanting a supercharger right about now )

Man.... That is a sorry 0-60 time and it makes no sense. I have a n/a 3800 series 1 and my time is almost half of yours... Can I maybe suggest another stop watch? Because that time is just unbelieveable. Any hikups with the engine or anything? That is weird...

13 seconds is odd, I thought the book on our model was 9 seconds 0-60, I've never officially tested mine, but I have given her a good run and it gets up there very quickly. If I hammer hard, a squak of the tires always happens, and it shifts into second at about 3500-4000....WHEN I hammer hard...

Ok ok I know the time really sucks....

Any ideas?

New transmission?
Cleaning the throttlebody?
New belts/wires? (had them checked last week, says everything is ok)

89BonnieSE89 says his shifts into 2nd at around 3500-4000, when he hammers down.... again mine does this at red line on the hammer down.

Here'* the issues I'm having with the car...
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...pic.php?t=5662
(I didn't want to double post)

Also, when I have her really moving on the highway, she'll shift into OD (4th?) at 160kph.
Is it possible she'* "tweaked" for highend or something weird :?:

Merlin1? when was the last time you had a really COMPLETE tune up? Check that TB too, it may be loaded with carbon deposits and crappola, also check your air filter.

Your belts and wires should be fine.

I'm a little perplexed with your OD. If the car is in overdrive, it should down shift into OD at around 80 kph. Your tach should read anywhere between 1500-1750 RPM. I can comfortably cruise at 140-160 (flyin at that point ) and not break 2500 RPM.

Only when you 'punch' it should you feel the tranny come alive, tach jumps and you get pushed back into your seat. Any punch, should bust the revs up to about 3000 RPM.

At 150kph+, the engine is at least 3200rpm.
(I could be wrong, I'll double check that)

When I punch it, it'll go up to near the red line.
I do get the "punch" at around 3200-3800rpm.

When I adjust my peddel position, I can cause the car to change gears... sorta.

Merlin, I hope you find your prob and shave those extra seconds. That does seem weird.

I too can cruise at around 70 or higher and be at ~2500rpms. My 0-60 time (though I've never officially tested it, just estimated) isn't where I want it to be yet. Somewhere between an avg. of 7.7 and 8.5. I want NO more than 7.5, and hopefully high 6'* or low 7'* someday.

3200 wow, I swear I'm doing no more then 2500 at 150 kph...

I do the same thing, alter the pressure on the pedal to induce a gear change, lol, lazy mans manual shift
