Performance, Brainstorming & Tuning Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

I went to the drag strip last night.

Maybe you can decipher this information better than I can?!?
2.4 is probably your 60'. If so, very respectable.
6.692 would be your 330'.
1/8 is at 72.585, but I don't see the time listed. Odd. Usually they have the time and ET at 1/8.

Not bad. If that'* actually your 60' time, you know what you need to work on. The top end. Time to really open that sucker up. Exhaust work and intake work are your friend.

Thanks for picking apart that slip for me Will.

Top end eh? I am still deciding if I am going to do any work on her. If I do anything to her it will be in this order.

Custom intake; 3.4" pulley & tranny cooler... to start.

Well done Galaxy
Bracket racing is a lot of fun The more you run the better your reaction time will get. Just do your mods slowly according to budget and have fun learning

Good going. I'll bet the next time you go your reaction times will improve. Just don't be afraid of launching hard on that last yellow. That'* exactly how bad my reaction times were the first time I raced.
You've really got me curious now how well mine would do. Maybe it'* a lot closer to my Firebird than I think.

Yeah that is a slightly confusing time slip. You can improve all of those, I know you can. Get that 60' down to 2.0'* and you will see your time drop nicly!

Based on the patterns Taylor, any SSEi that shows up wows the crowd. Its a crowd pleaser for sure, I know PontiacDad can attest to that fact

Actually, to be honest, no one even cared. The strip was populated with Japanese and European cars mostly. The only domestics were a couple of older Mustangs, a new Mustang, and an older Camaro with a shaker that was having trouble with his engine.

So, to answer your questions, no one even talked to me about the car and yes it was quite crowded. Although, it was already dark and the crowd was a-typical IMO.

An amusing story for everyone: I went with 4 other cars: an Acura 1.6 EL with CAI, a last-gen Audi A4 (1.8T) stock, a latest-gen Ford Contour Sport with full exhaust, and a VW GTI (1.8T) stock. The Acura didn’t run and the A4 couldn’t run better than 16’*. The GTI has been telling me for months that he ran a 15.1 once when he went to the strip alone. Conveniently, he can’t find the timeslip. Anyway, his best time, out of 5 runs, was a 15.73. Now comes the zinger. On the ride up, the Contour (who I hardly know) is beside me for a while talking trash. He tells me he’* “going to eat me for dinner” and how “I am going to be seeing a lot of his rear lights at the strip.” So, the first time I line up with him he runs a 17.67 and is humiliated. He doesn’t even stop to talk about it he just gets right back in the wait lanes and runs again at 17.19. After that, “something is wrong with his car” etc… and he never runs again. I hope I am not the only one that finds that amusing.

That doesn't surprise me. You were racing in Quebec. With Canadian prices for autos and fuel, most of the racers are young and only have small cars. Most also have the "2Fast2Furious" image and performance parts for these cars are so very available and prolific. Some of these little ricers are running 8 - 9 sec quarters at 160 - 180 mph. and it doesn't take much to get them into the 12 sec range.

Don't be too hard on the Contour. That'* all part of drag racing. He was probably trying for the psycological advantage.

Don't give up racing with your Bonne....and don't care if those ricers don't appreciate your class. They'll start paying attention when they see your tail lights.
Not many of them will be able to get into the 13'* without a lot more mods than you.

Hmm, I never looked at it from the psychological perspective. That'* a good point. Although, I never said anyting to him about his time, nor did I insult him for it. I guess the point I was trying to make is, if people are trying for the psychological advantage, perhaps they could do it a little less contemptiously.
