Stay the hell away from Bosch. There have been too many bad experiences with them in 3800'*.....and a Vortech 350, and a Quad4 for me. I use NGK V-Power. Same principal as the Splitfire, but much cheaper. I've had great luck with them. You might consider your 02 sensor at the same time. Mine bought me almost 2mpg....it went at about 70,000 miles.

I got NGK as well. I got the Iridium series and they are performing very well in my '95 SSEi. Willren in right about the O2 sensor too, that could help but isn'talways the cheapest part.

On my 93, you don't....other than it smelled like it was running a bit rich at the exhaust tips.....but then again, my 02 sensor was only 20 bucks. Yours runs 50-60 if memory serves me. How many miles do you have on the car? I'd say if you have over 50k, and it'* never been changed, just do it, Nike boy

Well, I don't know of any real way. If you get the car scanned ($$$) they can tell by voltage levels, but most people just change them out every so often. Gas mileage drops is a sign of possible failing O2 sensors as well. I just did a tune up (wires, plugs, filters, etc...) but I think I am stil running a little rich I think so I am probably due for new ones too, it'* been a while.

I know the 94 uses the pre-heated O2 sensor, but does it have 2 of em like the 95, and if so, are they both preheated? This is something I'll be adding to the timeline when we discuss exhaust.

Keep us posted. I'd be interested to see how much of an improvement you see. I'm considering doing my wires, myself. My plugs are new, but wires are stock. I just wish I'd done it when I did the plugs and O2 sensor :?

If the O2 is completely shot , then you CES light will come on. Before this happens though, you'll notice shitty gas mileage! The average O2 sensor should last about 60,000 to 150,000 KM for the original one only! Aftermarket ones run for about a couple of years depending on the manufacturer!
