Default Night vision

I know this won't have a simple answer, but could you install the night vision system from a Cadillac Deville a different vehicle? Is it tied in with the ECM/PCM?

I looked into doing this. The system is tied into the vehicle in so far as the vehicle sends a signal to indicate day/night. The system may not work without it since it only designed to function when it thinks it is night time (I don't believe it will turn on at other times). I believe this signal to be a class 2 data message. The Bonneville may not use the same signalling, even though it uses a similar sunload sensor system. There is no other real link to the vehicle except for power. There is a control which adjusts the height and intensity of the display. The signals from the camera connect directly to the projector as well.

The biggest challenge would be mounting the projector. I'm thinking it certainly won't bolt right in. This unit won't display anything but information from the night vision camera. There won't be any of the other information we are accustomed to seeing with the "usual" HUD units.

Is it possible? Well, anything is possible (I think). Depends on how thick your wallet is. Personally, I won't be persuing this further (although it is kinda cool).

Thanks for the reply. I suppose the projector could be cut into the dash (not dealing with a Bonneville, exactly...) but would still have the day/night signal issue
