I am buying this off clubgp for pretty cheap. Its the cam and the stock heads install kit. I will be installing this in the spring. What are everyone'* opinions? And yes, this will make me the fastest 97-99 SSEI

Well, the TEP cam is really agressive. I can see that thing FLYING after all the tuning is done.

The intense stage 3 pcm should be everything i need. Only thing I am worried about is my tranny, so I may not go with that one. This is my dail-driver, so I will keep most things pretty lean.

If its your daily driver believe me you don't want the TEP race cam. That cam is way over aggressive, and will work with some valvetrain work, but the stock heads will flow really shitty at that kinda lift. You really need to get P&P'ed heads and all that. Not only that, but with the stock exhaust manifolds this cam is gonna be a joke. There is such a thing as too big of a cam, and that would be it. I would look at cams with lift around .520 or less for stock heads. The Intense S1X cam, the Intense S2 cam, the ZZP VS cam, the ZZP XP cam (<-- my choice for your application), or the 3800 Performance cam. You're gonna be very dissapointed with the thrasher cam, and I would be surprised if it made your car much faster at all...its way too big for your application.

Just my $02. I would do a little more investigating before throwing the biggest cam I could find in a car. I also think I would get headers before a cam as well...

Also notice how the highest non-IC dyno for the TEP cam is 319whp, this is with modded heads. Then take a look at the highest S1X dyno of 304whp with stock heads. And it idles smoother, gets better mileage, isn't so rough on your valvetrain, etc... Bigger is not always better, and in this case I would say that is definately true.

I dunno, I am getting a heck of a deal on this cam, and I would really like a smaller one, but for $200 I am getting the cam, springs, and special retainers to run it in stock heads. I have PEM'* waiting to be put on, and will be getting headers later.

One of the biggest mistakes one can make when rodding up their engine is over camming.
Don't say we didn't warn you.
