Default Massive Performance Upgrades (Questions)

hi guys,

New to this bonneville club but im wondering if all of these are going to work for my bonneville... about 2 yrs ago i wrecked the front end of my car causing some minor imperfections to the front end. I just bought a new hood, front bumper and head light but im looking to upgrade its performance. I just bought a super charger off ebay for the car because im stuck with the basic SSE none sc version. Im pretty sure it will hook up properly even though its not the SSEi version. I also purchased a horse power chip desgined for the bonneville, easy install correct? Im also wondering if this cool air intake that i bought its going to function correctly. Its made for a 3.8 L v6 pontiac grand prix but the size of this engine is the same as mine so im figuring it will work fine. Tell me otherwise? Im also investing in taking out the exhaust from the cat back. Im pretty sure that this will open up the air ways a bit giving a little bit of a horse power increase. Any other suggestions for minor to major upgrades would be helpful. Also i was wondering if there are any BnM race shifters or Hurst shifters that can work for the Bonneville Transmission? Thanks for any responses,

~Aaron

Welcome to the club, but I got some bad news for ya, your supercharger won't work, at least not without some serious work. The CAI you'd have to post pics of to see if it works. There are a coupla guys here with some quick N/A cars, I'm sure they'll post .

Ouch,

won't work eh? whats the main problem with the hook up? The guy who sold it to me said it would work but i would need to get a new gasket or something to that affect. i think maybe i was duped? lol.

He lied, you will need a LIM (lower intake manifold), various pieces and parts, brackets, pulleys, PCM, wiring, etc. It'* a total mess of work. The guru'* will chime in about the Series II, since I don't know much about them.

ya you were duped, there are some major internal differances in the SC motor over the N/A motor, and there is no way just the SC will bolt up to a N/A blockyou would need the lower intake mannifold for that and i still dont know if it would fit on (someelse will chim in with that info)

your exaust, i would suggest a highflow cat and a F-body muffler

and is the intake an E-bay one?, if so there have been many instance of them being to short for what there advertised for (pics please)

Default CAI

Just put in an order from Pep Boys... i think it was a bit pricy but i was tired of looking around. Maybe i should have came here first. Lol. $311 bucks. There was no picture so when it gets here im guessing i take pictures and post. They say if it doesn't fit i can return it. Which is going to be the case most likely. So how hard is this going to be to get this engine super charged?

$311 was a total burn, use the "search" featur on this site and look up "ricepipe" to find the cheapest alternative (and most effective/popular)

and about supercharging, please read my post above

Default Bust

So in otherwords it was a wasted attempt to purchase this super charger along with the other items to make this car perform. I still owe about $4,500 on this car and was trying to make the best of it. Apparently this is going to take alot of work to SC this engine. Exactly how long would this take the average mechanic to find and assemble what your suggesting i do?

i think finding it would be the hardest part for an experiances mechanic it wouldnt take to long 2days maybe i think thats how long it took on the other cars that have done it on this site

and i wouldnt say it was a waste, maybe if you find a motor it might need an SC well hey now you got one and the intake not a waste, just a learning experiance, now you know and you can get your money back on that one so no harm no foul right
