INTENSE PCM questions
i sent my PCM to INTENSE the other day for a reburn. adam had a stage 1 cam burn on there, i do not need that. the price for the standard rocker reburn is a lot higher than i expected it to be, $80...
what is keeping me from getting the $80 DHP?

Consider the fact that Intense has the top 2 fastest 2000 H-bodies.
Think about all the man-hours they have into tuning the 2000 L67 PCM for the H-body.
Not to knock DHP, but they have no Bonneville'* (Y2K specifically) that have such extensive knowledge of your car'* tuning (Y2K L67 H-body).
I do believe Foghorn is running a DHP, but he'* got a 1997 SSEi, which I bet is really similar to 1996 SSEi tuning, which is what the owner of DHP drove 3 yrs ago.

i would only buy an intense PCM for my bonnie, just due to the huge ammount of experience that they have over the other vendors.

ok, so im not really thinking of doing DHP, but doesnt $80 sounds a bit high for a change like that? not trying to knock INTENSE, as im sure they will see this thread. i had asked todd about how much the shift point changes would be, he said $10, and thats why i shipped it to them no questions asked. but he just called me to tell me it had the cam burn on it... i obviously want the best burn for my car, so i have to do it.

FWIW, we have a DHP PCM in our '00 SSEi. Its a 1.0 with a few slight modifications but nothing too major. It seems to be a very nice file and in the 70k miles its been on the car it has seemed to work great. Shift points are perfect and the fueling seems to be good, etc...
Considering Dave Buckshaw of DHP had his own SSEi for a while, it seems like he wouldn't have had much of a problem making a good SSEi file to me.
Don't get me wrong, it seems like Intense'* PCM file works well, and obviously they've had a lot of experience with the Bonnevilles, but that doesn't mean that DHP'* file isn't good either. Just my $.02.

for the bville i would say go with intense they are alot more knowleadgeed in the hbody then dhp and zzp.
where as dhp and zzp are more knowleaded at the GP (well cant realy even say that cause intense has a GP they run)
its all personal preff thats all it comes down to. just buy a tuner. that way you can do what ever you want when ever you want!!!! and you can help other member out that live in your area (shhhhh)

I've run the 03 SSEi DHP 1.5 starter bin that came with my PowrTuner and had good success tuning with it on my Bonne.
The only difference between PCM vendors is the settings that use within the various standard PCM tables used by the GM code that runs the car. There'* nothing "magical"...it'* just how well the settings are dialed in.
In addition, a "cookie-cutter" PCM is never going to replace a custom tune tailored to one'* car and mods. Owning both a GTP and SSEi, I use the same methods for tuning. There isn't much difference.
Just my two cents.

Andrew,
I sent you an email on this but i'll post here as well. All the minor changes we do are 10.00 each which is why I told you that to change your shift points would be 10.00 however that was assuming you had a standard PCM. There are MANY differences between a stage 1 and a standard PCM including fueling tweaks, torque management settings, timing changes, etc... If all you want us to do is change your shift points and send it back we can do that, 10 bucks, however that is not the "Best" thing to do for your car and its current mods.
A standard PCM is much more in line with what you currently have on it and I could charge your 10.00 for each of the settings changes (which is over 8 ) or I can charge you the update fee which is 80.00 and include all the extras in that amount.
