Aren't you worried about water getting onto your alternator?

I'm sorry but I beg to differ. My father killed not 1 but 2 alternators while washing down his engine (on 2 seperate cars). Every time I wash my motor I put a towel over my alternator so that I don't get water on it.

Oldsman, have you read the whole topic?

And I beg to differ with you on the alternator. You CAN perhaps if you completely submerge the sucker.

oops :( I guess I have bad alternator luck. I have had more than one go on me in my short time driving and I get REALLY paranoid when moisture gets anywhere near my alt.

Anyway because I didn't say it before, Will those hood vents are beautiful.
( I wonder how those would look on a riveria ?) :P

I have an idea for the 'off season' anyway. There'* a couple businesses here that make magnetic door signs that can be any color and be cut to fit as top covers. Or I can make inserts for underneath out of plexi or acrylic. In the winter, I don't need the extra cooling.
"Doh" now I see it.

You're forgiven.

Seriously, there are alot of options here, but honestly, I'm more concerned with the hood insulator getting wet than anything else. No water will run off the hood into these, so it'* only a minimal amount of rain that directly hits the vents as it falls.

Funny observations:

At lunch today with Greyhare and Cary (pitts guys met Cary this summer when we were visiting). After I get out of the throttle, we can hear a descending-pitch whistle through the new vents. I believe it'* the BCA/BCS dumping at the end of the throttle-down cycle. I could never hear this before, and might hear it any more after I re-install the hood insulator.
