I'd like to look in to making some kind of a cold air intake on my own. What have some of you done, where did you get parts, etc.?

I used a piece of 3" vacuum tank hose, a 3" steel muffler coupler and a 7" K+N cone filter to make my setup, I used to work at a place that made vacuum tanker trucks so that'* where I got the hose, it'* heavy-built and reinforced with steel wire inside the rubber, similar to the way a tire is constructed, and perfectly smooth inside, worked great for me.

I cut the hose with a hacksaw, it'* cuts fairly clean and then you just clean it up a bit when your done, the trick is getting the wire reinforcement in the hose to cut clean, the hose is very rigid, not so much you can't get a seal with it, but you won't be able to pinch or crimp it. I got the muffler coupler at crappy tire and then all you need are Tridon clamps ( the regular type of screw down hose clamps )
Where in ontario are you from, I've got some of the hose left over.

I dig your trunk, if you want some of the hose let me know.
I got a chrome intake coming so mine is going to a buddy of mine or I'd sell you it.
But if you wanna make your own go nuts, I'll give you the hose.
