L27 Cam
I need a bit of help with this car. Some opinions would also be appreciated.
I've got my L27, now with 158,000 miles. From what I hear, these things are supposed to last quite a while. My 4T60E was rebuilt 9000 miles ago.
I already have 1.8 ratio Roller Rockers installed, and I heard there were huge gains to be had with an additional cam.
First of all, is it worth it if i can get a cam for $300 and pay someone $250 to help me install it?
If it is (or even if it is barely worth it), where would I get said cam? I'm looking for a moderate cam (not mild, but not extreme). I'll be replacing valve springs, pushrods, and retainers as supporting mods. Does anyone know how much those will cost me and where to get them?
On a side note, the valve cover gaskets have been replaced, and throttle body and LIM gaskets will be replaced when the cam is installed.

You will either need to ditch the 1.8'* or get a low-lift high-duration custom grind. Combined lift on a performance cam coupled with high-ratio rockers will be uber-bad.
Boom bad.
I also have 1.8 rockers, and with my ported heads, my car is begging for more flow to fill the cavernous ports. I'll satisfy it'* needs eventually with a custom ground cam that only increases duration, not lift.

Where would I get such a low-lift high-duration custom grind? How much?

You have to provide the core and the specs you want.
www.cranecams.com
www.crowcams.com
www.compcams.com
Take your pick.
While you're investigating that, take a little time to condense your signature. Sig requirements are in NOTICE.

Bignews1 went through them for his L36 cam regrind.
You usually need longer pushrods to make up for the amount of material they take off the base circle of the cam lobe. But, since your not increasing the lift, they might not need to take that much off the base circle and you may not need longer pushrods..

Say this was your L27 and you wanted to do a cam swap with something mild-moderate. What specs would you use?
