Couldnt get the first two links to bring up anything.

Not sure what the Ignition module would really do to help the LD8. I dont think the application ois right either. They list/group alot of Buick/Pontiac engines in that listing. And only the LD8 in that grouping use individual coils directly on plugs. Beware, the LD8 Northstar isnt a common engine and alot of the parts listed for the GXP both on the internet and parts stores are wrong.

One member put that Maf on a smaller sister Olds engine. He said a it seemed to give a a slight improvement in accelaration. Literature I have read said typically a 6-8 percent improvement when a CAI is used as well. For me thats alot of money and time vs what is achieved and I dont want a "pipe" on my engine. The car has a nice cold air intake that draws air from behind the driver headlight and the airbox is designed to draw smooth linear air across the stock maf. If their were aftermarket parts/options that would make use of more air, I would go for it, but their isnt, and I like the neat and original airbox as is. One thing to consider is these GXP'* are Limired Production, Top Trim Level, last year Bonnevilles made. I plan to keep mine for good, and am careful about how far I want to hack it up.

some of the links are not working right. If you copy and paste the name of the part that is below the customer service and phone number in the gray bar, to the search box it will pull up the part.

I am going to have to shut this down here and send Performance and Brainstorming. This section is for Maintenance only. More than half your links are coming up dead. You are bringing up things we have done the routine simple searches for 2-3 years ago, and posting in a section reserved for engine troubles. To be serious, alot of time and effort have gone into developing something credible to do to the Northstar, by some very experienced people who came up dry. I am very happy to see you getting all excited about the GXP and modding it, been there. But as you go along, remember we have been doing these searches for some time.

Please read the heading of the Section. Post non mechanical issues in General Chat and Peformance ideas in that section. It gets hard to keep this Section clean for people to find mechanical problems links if it is flooded with all Northstar related posts.

My bad, sorry for posting in the wrong area. Thanks for letting me know these things don't work, that is why I joined this site. I would rather learn from others exprience than spending the money and learning the hard way.

No problem. Just took a couple clicks to move it here. And I remember your enthusiasm. I had it almost 3 years ago. Googled and Web Ferret'ed till the sun came up night after night searching. One plus is I did learn alot about Northstar engines. Nitrous does wake the engine up to the extent you actually accomplish something more than the little tweaks and improvements shown by alot of that other stuff. It isnt that they dont work, but they are more designed for the 1/4 miler trying to squeak out a couple tenths of a second. Just some ball park figures here. $150 for a TB rebore, $300 for a maf, $100 for a cold air intake, and get maybe 8-12% increase in power. I wasnt about to bite into that.

If you consider Nitrous, those cheaper "dry" kits you referenced will burn your engine up and what gave nitrous a bad name to begin with. Choose a Zex or NOS wet kit. They inject both nitrous and additional gas in a fine spray and alot safer on the engine. They also use the throttl position switch to activate the system. I choose ZEX weighing the features and price....... I kind of dig purple too. Either way they dont make a kit specific for the GXP, you have to choose their univeral 8 cylinder fuel injection wet kit. The ones you posted are just that, The parts store just assigns them to most applications. If you get serious about it, I will dig up the thread showing my installation. It has pictures and where I put the nozzle. With it I bought the rapid fire purge and laser lights that beam through the purge. Big consideration is the $50-$60 a bottle for the nitrous, and it goes fast. It injects the nitrous as a liquid so with a couple of purges, you can go through it easily in a night.

Thanks once again for your help. Would somebody please make some performance parts for these cars. Is this car the only "performance" car they don't make "real" go fast parts for? Maybe we should start a petition and get names of everybody that wants performance parts for there GXP and then send them to people like Edelbrock and others. Although it sounds like some needs to be able to do something about the pcm before anything else can be done. Whats the number to the Geek Squad?
