Default Milage survey... 3800I & II '*

ok so my little 3800 olds is sappose to get 18 city and 27 hwy when it was a new car..or something like that..

well the car tells me the avg'* and its darn close..
and it says i get like 15.7 city hwy together... but I was at speed on the hwy and cleared out the reading and was getting avg'* of around 22mpg.... now I only have like 99,000 on my 1990 3800 and it was sitting for 4 years before i got it 4 months ago and since i replaced the pcv, air, fuel filters and the o2 sensor my avg overall mpg has gone up by like 2mpg or so..

just wonderin what the rest of you are getting for milage and do mods like a cone k&n and a perf cat and muff', plat' plugs and coil pak improve mpg also on these 3800'*?

Check my sig for mods, also I'm puting nitrous in this weekend. AND I have 116,000 miles.

My car is going to teach me a lesson by blowing a rod or something.

My 94 ssei gets about 20 mpg on average. I never really drive the car normal however. There is always a time when I punch it and gas goes quick. I think if I really tried I might get about 23-24 highway maybe slightly more.

The best I ever got was 29 highway on a long trip with the cruise at 65/70. I don't know what my average is.

Just changed my O2 and my mileage is better. I'm only at half a tank now, and have hit the gas hard several times, so next tank I'll drive "normal" and see. But the best I ever got city driving was about 280 miles to the tank, so about only 15mpg. It'* never been as good as my friends 94 that gets 340-350 a tank. I'm going to change my plugs/wires/fuel filter, and hope for better mileage. If anyone has suggestions I'll definetely appreciate it. I don't know what else I can do, besides a complete tune up. Don't exactly have the money right now. Still have to get in the body shop from my accident last week :(

well the more i drive this car after it has been sitting for 4years the mpg is improving....for a while i was at 15.7mpg avg for everything.light and hard drivin' but since i git the car i have put mid and top grade fuels in it and did the pcv, air, fuel, and o2 and i am at my 18 last i looked......i poped out a few plugs and they look good but when i can i pop new plugs in the car.. now wires are a diff story.. have anyof you really checked the resistanse of your wires? i mean if they are visually inspected and look like new and test to the same ohm readings as a new saet leave them.. my mom;* 66 bonne 389cid just had a new set of wires put on it about 2 years ago and that was just for the fun of it.. it has always driven like a new car......

I'm looking at getting new plugs/wires to help my fuel efficiency. Are there any available at gmpartsdirect and anyone know a part number? I was interested in the ACDelco rapidfire plugs and some wires. Thanks

You can get plugs anywhere. AC Delco or NGK. Check out www.angryducktofuracing.com/bonnystore for your wires. Best price around, best wires around. The store is up!
