Default Spring Blockers?

Does anyone here use spring blockersor know about them? if so how did they work for you/them? are you/they using them only in the back or in the front too? where did you/they get them? Are they worth it? (the spring blockers not the they "they")

Yo. I've used them. The rubber guys. Didn't notice much of a diff. It'* tough to make them stay put, as our rear springs are a progressive coil. The spacing varies between the coils. Ultimately, I'd like to try the full circle spring rubbers like NASCAR uses, but honestly, now that I've upgraded my suspension with Polyurethane endlinks and new performance struts all the way around, I don't think there'* much need for them.

On the other hand, there are 5 different 'grades' of FE2. You might get the high grade handling if you don't have it by simply adding these.

They come in either aluminum (install with a 90° twist of a wrench) or rubber, and you can get them anywhere, including Autozone. Measure your coil spacing before you go, follow the install directions, and if you get rubber, consider drilling a hole in the center, and retaining them with a tie-wrap in case they pop out. I've lost a couple in the past over speed bumps when the springs are unloaded.

NASCAR has them tie-wrapped to the springs just hanging before a race so they can quickly insert them during a pit-stop.

I'd love a source for thier style.

Are you trying to ger harder launches, stiffer rates, or less roll/better cornering from this?

I don't think i'd advise them for cornering improvement, or daily driving for that matter. But for launching, a set out back sure won't hurt you at all. The best turning upgrades are definetly anti-roll bars, and good strut valving. Crazy stiff spring rates destroy ride comfort to get the same results. Just something to keep in mind.

You have air ride suspension. Disconnect the level indicator and push it all the way up. The car will think you have max load and inflate to full height. This will help reduce your weight transfer significantly.

Ya, listen to Rogue, Xac. That works way better than those rubbers.
10 mm wrench is all you need and you don't even have to take off the wheel, once you get the feel of where to reach in. Hit the trunk button first to pump it up, then turn off the key. It makes it easier to stick your hand in to undo it.

i always listen to my elders . . . elders in the community of Bonnville anyway.

i am really looking forward to meeting a bunch of you at IDD - if you are going.

on the spring blockers lockers it is locking down the front springs that i am considering to drop the front and decrease the front end lift on take off. the only worry i have is the possibility of wheel hop due to the resrticted spring rate/movement.

I don't think any of the big dogs do this. Usually they just tighten up motor mounts to help with weight transfer although it stiffens up the ride considerably.

My dad has used spring blockers in his GTP and it has worked quite well for him when he used it, then he was using the ZZP suspension mod mod but now he'* going back to spring blockers, but with an SSEi I would just use the air ride and jack the back way up with it. However, on a car without the air ride they work good. I know a guy with an '00 GTP that could not for the life of him get into the 13'*, he made 20 some passes at MGM and ran a best of like 14.01, most of his runs were about 14.10 or so, his 60' times just weren't very good. So I gave him some spring blockers to make one more pass with and he went 13.92, his 60' improved a little over a tenth IIRC.

Unless you are only going to use the front spring compressor idea at the track, I would not recommend doing this for the street. You want as much rebound travel as possible to keep your front wheels in contact with the ground when going over bumps or rises.
