The 87-93 bonnies are very touchy about this....
Seems that most all of the 94 and later GM 3800'* will crank right up and find a happy idle pretty quick...
I wonder if the idle control of figures are a wee bit diffrent with the Jet chip as opposed to the stock chip...

Just had a thought. I think I can temporarily prevent the fluid from leaking out. Drop 6-8 quarts of trans fluid in it, leave it up on jackstands, get it up to operating temp, and run it up to 40mph with no load.

Now you're using your noggin! Hope you can get this idle relearned properly. Would it be wise to run a fan in front of your grille, much as they do for dyno runs? I guess it depends how long you're going to hold it at 40mph.

Well, there can't be more than a teaspoon of fluid in the trans right now. We had it idling for about 10 minutes last night, and got it pretty warm. We shut it down because of the stench of burning trans.
