GM Tuners???
I have a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville SSE that had the oil filter blow out the bottom of the car the first day I got insurance on it. Needless to say the motor spun a bearing (but continued to run and can still run..... tough, tough motor ) and is about shot. I had the tranny rebuilt and bought a 3.8l TPI out of a 1992 SSE with 66,000 miles. I have been running this setup for about 6 months now and it is awsome. I changed the plugs, wires, put in tranny cooler, removed MAF screen, did a custom CAI with heat box, 180 degree thermostat and a Flowmaster 80 crossflow muffler with a high flow cat. What I am getting at is I am now looking for a custom burned chip since JET no longer makes them I was wondering about GM tuners? Do they carry OEM chips? Could I have them get me and OEM chip for a 92 SSE Custom burned sent to my door so I dont have to be without a car for 4 days? Thanks for all your help in advance!

How'd you deal with the EGR delete swapping in a 92?
Anyway, if you had no PCM problems with that, you should be able to run the JET for a '93. Last time I checked, they still said they were available on their website.

LOL, I have NO clue? The local Automax shop did it ALL for me! but yea. Do you think the 93 JET will work on a 92 motor? Thanks alot!

The SSEi chip will (confirmed), but the lack of an EGR on the 92 may make the L27 (SSE) chip not work. That'* why I was wondering. Does your motor have an EGR now or not? They could have kept it, and in that case, you'd be ok. EGR in my sig pic is the light gray thing with the Pontiac Dart on it. Yours has a black cover if it'* there. If they kept your upper intake manifold and front exhaust manifold, you may still have it.

What do you mean???
If you are refering to the 3.8 motor that was in the previous bonnies.... it'* not. It'* the same motor that was in my 93.... a Series I.

What Jason is talking about is that some 92'* had a one-piece intake manifold made out of aluminum, not seperate with a black plastic upper intake. Just like the 87-91'*. But that was without the EGR port, so I'd assume you have the plastic upper and lower aluminum from your original motor. Or you found one of the not-so-common 92 L27'* with the 93-94 setup.
The Jet raises trans line pressure (firming up the shifts), raises shift points for both performance and normal shift modes, allows skip-shifting, adjusts AFR curves, increases throttle response, and on and on........Basic mods required for the Jet Stage 2 are intake, exhaust, and 180 stat. Chip does a bunch of stuff that I forget. Raises the redline, deletes the top speed limiter, etc, etc.

The lower intake is Aluminum and the upper is plastic. Thanks for clarifying that. I have these basic mods you described. How MUCH of a difference does this chip make as opposed of without one? Sorry about all the questions.... I NEED one of these BAD!!! LOL Thanks for all of your help!

Hard to say how much in your situation. I have an SSEi, so I'm L67, not L27. My butt-dyno is calibrated to feel about a 5-10hp increase, and I think my estimation of 25hp gain on mine was pretty close to what Jet suggested I'd get. The smaller pulley on the SC actually lets me take better advantage of the chip as well, so the mods work well with the chip.
In your non-supercharged case, I'd expect 10-15 hp. You'll feel it.
