Thanksgiving holiday maintenance, My TB Shines!
Throttle body - Cruddy!!
Throttle body - Sparkling clean!!
Upper Intake - Really really cruddy!!
Upper Intake - Not perfect but much cleaner.
Does anyone see any problem areas around the EGR pipe? This is the first one I've worked on so I don't have anything to compare it to. I didn't notice any obvious cracks or breaks but, man, it had a bunch of oily tar behind the EGR pipe when I first removed TB. Looked like something you would scrape off the bottom of a crude oil tank!
Cleaned the MAF wires and removed and cleaned IAC plug. Should be good for another 150,000.

Wow, what a great job you did there Tumbleweed! That TB is sparkling clean, remarkable. The egr stove pipe looks okay from what I can see in the pic. As long as you're not losing coolant, you're good.

I believe it was STP throttle body cleaner. Got it straight off the shelf at Auto Zone. I'll take a look at the can when I go back to the shop tomorrow just to be sure. I was amazed at how well that stuff cuts through the crud!
(20 minutes later he remembers to check receipt........)
Yes, it was STP Throttle Body Cleaner from Auto Zone. $2.99
Thanks Mark,
I hope the UIM will hold up for a while longer. That really is a terrible design when you look how that EGR tube puts massive amounts of heat right through that plastic. Some engineer needs his....
