Nismo, your repeated problems on this Forum have reached a culmination point. You were specifically told not to post your Maxima advice in the Mechanical or Performance sections of this Forum, as your advice has been in error on many occasions.
These Bonnevilles are not Maxima'*. Your advice (time and time again) may be followed by a Bonneville owner who doesn't know any better, causing great expense and headaches.
Only 8-ball, Bad SSEi, and ONE OTHER CAR here on that top 25 list have replaced their factory piping because it is the most superior factory piping you can imagine. It was made for performance.
Giving full-replacement factory piping advice for a naturally aspirated L36 engine would have netted about 5hp and a loss of torque.
Good bye, Nismo.
This topic may continue on it'* intended course now.

klys: if you want to replace just your muffler, do that, but if you want it louder, then run a new cat-back pipe and eliminate your resonator aswell... this is all dependant on where you want to go with the car (looks/sound or pure efficient performance) and how you like the exhaust to sound

But keep in mind most Pre-94 Bonnevilles that had no factory resonator have either thought about adding a resonator or actually did it. Myself included. I added a very large resonator to 'clean up' what was WAY too much exhaust noise and drone.
We typically suggest keeping the resonator. Most guys that consider deleting it are track queens that are running very quick ET'* already.

i'm going for a slightly more aggressive sound..not loud really but meaner..it really doesn't matter much to me if there is a performance gain seeing how its an SE and i don't race..since i'm going with dual pipes i'll have to have a pipe made for the left side(if not both)..basically i want a meaner sound and 2 pea shooters sticking out the back; )
