Or you could get a G6 tranny since it'* the strongest FWD tranny that will bolt up and get custom axles, shift linkages etc.

Don't think that is feasible considering how flat underneath the unibody is. There would be nowhere for the driveshaft to run, unless it just hung out underneath the car and was not hidden.
Have a custom exhaust done and use the factory exhaust tunnel.
