That'* insane....I can now, easily and convincingly, testify that you, sir, are totally nuts.
As far as the difference between the two stats.........I dunno, although the plunger on the 160* looks like a different diameter, but I am old an feeble and prolly seeing things.

And John and Shadd drove both the cars a couple months back I think.
Difference between the thermostats is indeed the diameter of the opening when it reaches temperature. The INTENSE thermostat should flow just shy of 10% more than the Stant I had in there. So I drilled some carefully calculated bypass holes to make up the rest, and should have made up the flowrate and cooling efficiency I lost when I so greedily pursued the 6-8 horsepower the underdrive water pump pulley gave me.
I am now in the NON-enviable position of having seasonal thermostats. One of them for 4 months of the year, the other for the rest.
