Default 85 degrees outside and 18 degrees knock retard

havn't been on the forum in a while so here it goes.... 93SSEi.... Intake, High Flow Cat Converter, 180* Drilled T-Stat, AutoLite 104'*, 2.2'' SC Pulley, and Oversized Idler Pulley... heres the problem... in the winter i had about 7 degrees or so knock retart and now in the summer (i live in STL) i was messin w/ my scan tool the other day and i have about 18 at WOT and it was about 85 outside with not to bad of hummidity... what is the best (and cheapest) solution to this problem without going up a size in my SC pulley? any help is appriciated...

Did you replace the fuel pump? May be a weak one.

How much boost do you see with the 2.2" pulley? It could be a plugged cat. It is more then likely a weak fuel pump though. Can you hear it whine (the pump)?

According to his sig, the cat is new. I'd strongly expect weak fuel pressure to be the culprit here too.

Aha, i went through the same thing.
My fuel pressure was low, HOWEVER that was not the compleat fix, i was getting up to 20 degrees in cold weather...my Jet Stage two chip took care of atleast 10-12 degrees in hot weather, the PCM for some reason did not have or could not learn fueling for that much boost...im not saying this will fix it, however, you should see some kind of KR reduction with the Chip..

Your injector pulse width and I'd check to see how your KR jumps - with RPM, before/during shifts, etc. You might want to try to run a little race gas to see if your KR goes down.

Yeah Performance isnt cheap at all..results are much better if u can do it the right way the first time....
I spent..
25+ on Bits
150 for a new LIM
75 for a Die Grinder
50 to have the manis welded
2000 for a transmission that would take the abuse
100 for a scanner
85 for the CAI
150 for gaskets
150 for the chip
150 for the flow matched injectors
and it still wasnt quite perfect.. hehehehe but its addicting once u get into it
and the car got wrote off so i got fucked..

That Chip will help by increasing your top end fueling, if your pump can keep up with it, KR can potentially damage your engine severly if you have a Knock sensor fail..

KR can and will damage your engine without your sensors failing. Knock sensors are reading knock that went on and try to react to it. If knock is going on that is not a good thing. The more you mod the bigger the risk is that your engine will blow up if it is seeing KR.
