Exhaust!!!
I'm looking to put either single or dual exhaust on my 1981. Either way, I'm going to get stainless. I'd like to know what'* decent in the way of high-flow catcons, and mufflers. I've heard Borla is good. I'm also thinking about a stainless Thrush, with the intention that it stays relatively quiet, but still sounds great (maybe something around 30"? I have a 26" Thrush on my '94 Blazer, and that sounds beautiful at idle...but a bit loud at mid throttle and so on. Basically aiming for something that'* quiet, sounds nice, and will increase fuel economy and power.

Yeah, the problem is the inlet into the muffler is broken...inside of the muffler...I can grab onto the tailpipe and swing everything side to side from the muffler back. There is also leakage up into the engine compartment and directly under the passenger side. The pipe from the Y to the muffler is quite rusted. Its all giving me a good excuse to replace it.

I'm thinkin' the most bang for the buck, go single exhaust. Get a nice high-flow cat and either a magnaflow or a flowmaster 3 or 4 -chamber muffler. Stick with the stock pipe diameter. The low compression of your motor will need the smaller pipe size for adequate back pressure.
