Default Trans temp sender unit.

I installed the gauge today finally, everything went well except for the sender unit install. The sender unit on the gauge i got i about 1.5in long and very thin. I had it in the transmission once and it was leaking, i took it out and put the old screw back in for the mean while. Now i tried putting it in and there is now way it was gonna fit, the threds just didn't want to grab. Is there a plave i can get a sender unit that will fit better than this one. Im going to call some places tommorow but i would like to have an idea if there is anythign out there that will be better, and more reliable. Even the first time i got the sender in there it wasn't a very good fit. Are there any made that will fit perfectly? Thanks.
