Default Well, time to consider KR killers

So, I got KR and I need to get rid of it.

For starters I plan on cleaning the throttle body this weekend. I don't think that would do a single thing for KR but I still just feel like doing it.

How about a high flow cat? My KR peaks at 4 so I was thinking that and the upcoming winter would take care of it. How about this one? Let me know what you think:

Exhaust that flows better MIGHT help
however
A really good tune up can do wonders...re gap your plugs around .53 or so
Good wires and all
Get that thing BREATHING really well, the better it breaths, the more fuel it can burn at the top end with the added boost.
You shouldnt be pulley much KR with that new pulley...this leads me to think something is just out of tune
Check for vacuum leaks.
If you can afford it, Id almost recommend sending your fuel injectors to Fuel Injection Enterprises in Philomath, Oregon. The owner is a recognized vendor here, great guy, worked wonders.

A new 02 Sensor could do wonders as well..any small clog in the fuel system will cause KR as it will starve and run lean under high load, as it pre detonates, it will delay the timing a few degrees to correct this, remember the engine could see damage from the split second before the PCM delays the timing.

When you say peaks...is this KR only right at the shift point?

when I scanned it I only ran it up first gear. As soon as I floored it the kr hit 4 and counted down to 1 as it ran up 1rst .

If you're going to go with the high-flow cat go to performancepeddler.com They have free shippping on their items and if you enter in the promotional code EBAYROCKS you'll get an even better price.

A PCM may be the answer you need, simply because your fueling is upset by the increased flow.

However, 4° of KR in this weather (time of year) is pretty bad. You'll have 10° or more on a hot day.

it was 78 out when I scanned, I'm working on scanning it again in colder weather. Believe it or not it does get pretty cold in Alabama

Ok so I have a 4 day weekend. I plan on:

1. Cleaning my TB, I'm sure the K&N filter sends more microscopic crap the TB'* way.
2. Gap my plugs to .53, that might do a little more for KR than #1
3. Check our my O2 sensor(*). On that note, could anyone tell me which sensor to replace becaus I'm pretty sure there are 3 of them(1 behind cat, 1 on each exhaust mani.)
4. Get an new fuel filter. Is there any thing else I could do to check for fuel system blockage?
5. With only 30k miles, I'm pretty sure my wires are good but please correct me if I'm wrong.

So I'm putting the cat Idea in the closet because I'm not sure if it can be done without voiding the warrantee.

To everyone who has ever replied to any topic I have started thank you so much, I would be totally lost right now without the help from the fine people here at BC. Thanks guys.

This will do nothing for KR, but it'* a good thing to do.

Make that .053.

3. Check our my O2 sensor(*). On that note, could anyone tell me which sensor to replace becaus I'm pretty sure there are 3 of them(1 behind cat, 1 on each exhaust mani.)
There are only two. And the rear sensor does nothing for performance or efficiency. Ignore it. Replace the one just before the downpipe (between Cylinder #4 and the firewall).

4. Get an new fuel filter. Is there any thing else I could do to check for fuel system blockage?
That may have a very minor effect, but it'* a good tuneup item.

5. With only 30k miles, I'm pretty sure my wires are good but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Check them. They should be an even progression of resistances from 1 to 3, and from 2 through 6 (odd, even, front, rear).

My comments are above. Again, Kathy makes a good point. A performance PCM may do more good than anything at this point simply because it manages fueling for the pulley size you chose (you should add that to your signature).

You need to kill that 4° now, but be aware, that KR may come back in hotter weather.
