Default L27 Performance Ideas

Just look at my Sig

Stock L27 block in my 94 regal. Any ideas for mods? Exhaust/ and throttle body filtering will be done in spring/summer. Those are basic modifications

After reading a very written page on GM'* TPI system, I have realized after 4800, not matter what mods, my engine will never peak higher than that. The fuel system lacks the ability to distribute a proper mixture at higher rpms, and it chokes the engine, which is why all of the L27'* are rated stock at 4800 rpm for peak HP.

Revving any L27 past 5000 rpm is useless. New valves, cam, rockers, and head work done would only further the peak horsepower around 4800. It will remain the current beautiful bottom end block we have all come to love. So I guess you can sum it up in 2 ways.

Pros
-----

1. The Low End Torque Is Here To Stay, Forget About Your Mods
2. An Efficient Highway Driving Car
3. Responds Very Well To Mods
4. Extremely Reliable

Cons
------

1. Choking Issues at RPM >4800
2. Not Fuel Efficient For On and Off Throttle Driving
3. Not an L67

Take a look at what Allmachtige did...granted the Regal and the Bonneville are geared differently and have a different intake/exhaust, but to get educated on what can be done with an L27, he is the MAN

You can do virtually anything I've done except the SC pulley. And I really haven't done much.....yet. Tons of other possibilities. Read the 'first mods' article in Techinfo also.

Rockers are always a possibility, new cam is also a big thing, Chips will help a lot. Also rocker springs. Allmachtige has definetly done the most (some of us are broke college kids...).. I have lots of ideas, too.

I'm a broke college kid...I WAS a rich college kid, but then the boss left town with $140,000 and screwed me over for life.

Anyway, this next week I'm gonna setup the Mini AFC 2.0 in my car to get manimum power/efficiency and I'll let you know the results. For starters, do the basics like 180 stat, exhaust, intake (recommend Xstream 4750 filter), and then we talk bigger.

Are you just gonna put it on or actually have it tuned?

www.jetchip.com

Go to the source, bud. I'm not sure about your 94, though. 92 and 93 are well supported.
