Default Intake question

with a CAI, does a reducer serve any particular purpose? i always see intakes with reducers but i wasnt sure if ther was any particular pupose other than having a bigger looking intake, it can only fit as much air as the narrowest point yes?

From the HiP: The reducer is because the rice pipe of choice is not the same size as the TB opening. The choice of pipe is all about what will fit in the engine compartment.

Ideally the pipe should be at least the same size as the TB so there'* always plenty of fresh cold air on hand when you WOT.

Not necessarily true. It depends on how much you're flowing. Particularly on a NA car, having a smaller pipe, as long as you don't outflow it, is desirable. The smaller pipe causes more laminar flow, which is critical for the NA crowd.

And there probably aren't 5 L67'* here that can outlflow a 3".

So basically stick to a 3" intake pipe, and use a reducer to your TB.

and what'* the best filter to use? ( know k&n) but what what part number have you guys been using?

Edit: I've been looking at the ones on the k&n site and theyve got like 25 with a 3" flange so iuno who one to get.

RX 4750 is what most run here but I dont run it, mine is bascially the same lenght so its all good

4750 isnt listen on the site, u sur eit not the 4700, or 4760(which has a 3.5" flange)
