intake noise
I just put a rice pipe on my car, and at startup it makes a terrible amount of noise till it gets warmed up. Does anyone know of a way to quiet this down? It sounds like something is wrong with the engine.

I still have the MAF screen in b/c the pipe is a little short, its like a whisting gurgling noise. It starts to go away after the engine temp is above 100*.

Thats the natural sound an engine makes. Go run it up to 5k RPM and then you'll hear it make some noise
Did you have a filter on? MAF quiets it for sure. Otherwise build a very shielded box. There'* nothing wrong with it at all though.

i know there is nothing wrong, it just sounds like crap for 5 min, then it sounds good. Im wondering if it has something to do with coolant, since thats what changes as the engine gets warmer. If I had a drilled tstat would it help?

thanks for the help. I went outside today and noticed that about 30 miles on it and all three clamps had loosened. I moved one of them and tightened them all up. If I have to keep doing this then I am going back to stock.

Will rubber be able to withstand the heat in the engine compartment or will it gradually melt over time? I suppose they were just settling in, thats why they were loose.
My dad went to look at digi cams, so when we get one ill have pics up of my ride (after I have been a member here for like a year )
