Default getting rid of the upper intake?

would it be possible to weld six pipes to the lower intake leading up to another pipe that connects to the throttlebody? I see engines with seperate intake runners all the time. I guess you would have to do something about the coolant passages and the vacum line but why now? I know hector tried something like this but could this work?

In theory? YES! It could! In practicality? Probably not!
You're looking at alot of R&D headaches here design wize too. You have to compensate for the EGR System, EVAP System, PCV System, as well as the obvisous Fuel System & Air Intake System. You're also looking at keeping the "FLOW" regulated between ALL 6 "Tubes" too. Otherwise one cylinder (or more) will burn valves due to either being too rich or too lean.
Just something to think about.....

If you rig up a variable length intake system you will see many gains though

building a custom intake takes a lota R&D and someone who knows the ins and outs of desgin and practical uses.....mine was build by Elite Auto...a full on race shop custom you name it from there...custom intakes outflow stock by gallons of air lol...if you want to do it just don`t try it at home ...unless you really know what you are doing trial and error on your engine ....not a good thing may work and may go boom

Default 3800 F-Body Intake

Ok, doesn't apply to me, but does kind of to the thread. Have an of you L36ers tried the F-body metal intake and throttle body setup on your Bonnies? At the least, if it works, it wouldn't crack and leak coolant into your engine

They are RWD i think, the engine is different. I was thinking about the upper intake on the turboed GTP that intense/ZZP has (I cant keep them straight). Anyone else know what I'm talking about? It looks like just a cover.

Yeah, I knew that the F-body was RWD, but thought that it may work on the FWD 3800s. Plus, it looks to be a better setup for high RPM (shorter runners, it'* metal so you can port it).

I like theoretical questions

Oviously this isn't stock, but it'* a set of ported L36 heads and Manifold from a F-body 3800, and IIRC their lower manifolds looked identical to the FWD lowers.

This is the Intense Turbo Mani

Obviously, the intense one is custom, but I see similarities.

Regardless of that, the coolant passages are in different locations. Simply ask to see an F body intake manifold gasket and you'll understand.

Thanks for the imput guys. I guess I'd be in way over my head to try this. But I'm sure someone will eventually produce these. It'* only a matter of time really before intense or zzp tries to do something with it.
