Honestly, you might try saving money for a new transmission.
Youre drag racing a car with nearly 300,000 miles on it. I know these cars are more or less bulletproof. But the trans is a weak point. Unless youve done a rebuild recently, I bet the ol gal is gettin kinda tired.
I also agree that your car should be faster, you need to focus on why that is before you focus on modding.
Look at the times for other SSEis of your era even in stock form they run low 15s/ occasional high 14s.
Focus on tuning it up and getting the car running right before you focus on modding it out.

Yes, sir. The transmission had been rebuilt twice with the previous owner. The engine was rebuilt once, and 100K miles ago. I know the place that rebuilt the transmission both times, and they're going to have a look at it soon. In fact, it'* right under 30K since the last one, and it should be under warranty still.

Well then I retract my previous statement about the transmission being old and tired. I didnt know its status, just went off what I saw in the sig.
But as myself and others have said, youre still lacking some power somewhere, that would be my focus if I were you.
But this thread is about drag tires and I think thats been covered already, so Ill shut up about what I think.

Your 60' times are not that great. Work on your launch. Your CAR should be capable of a 2.2-2.3 60'. But that still dosn't answer the 1/4 mile time issue. Your car, in proper tune with a good driver, should run at LEAST a 15.2.
What kind of tires do you have on the car? What kind of fuel mileage do you get? There'* something seriously wrong here, and it should be figured out before looking at anything else. But even after we figure that out, and you shave that extra full second or more off your ET, you're still not in drag slick or radial territory.

Hey, thanks for the concern. I actually drag raced that one time for both fun and a good basis for several diagnoses. I filled up my tank, did city driving for ~70 miles, filled it up again, and saw that I get 16.55 mpg. Same for the highway, and it'* 24.
My MAF sensor is kind of offset. I guess I should have cleaned it before drag racing, but it was following the race that I used an electronic cleaning spray to wash it out a bit. We let it dry, and immediately I had more "oomph."
I'm going to do some sensor replacement, and I've already got a brand new fuel filter whose replacement I'm debating based on the weather. I don't feel I need one, but based on the mileage, it would be a good idea given the mileage.
Let me start a new thread for this, and I'll link to it from here.
