Default Turbochargers

Has anyone here sucessfully adapted a turbocharger from another car, to fit on the 3800? What about something like this? It should be possible, right? Since it is using air flow the internals of the engine should be fine? yes/no?

You would need:
$400 Turbo
$500+ Custom Headers
$100+? New injectors/fuel pump
$200+? New PCM for fuel management
$200+ New exhaust
------------
thats like $1400 right there, and thats probably the bare minimum. Are there any performance shops that are near you? You would only be able to run like 5-6 psi on the stock internals anyway. I would talk to someone who has installed them before. If you could get the parts that you need for cheap off the internet and its doable then great. The ZZP CSC kit is like $3100 to give you a comparison.

I bet it would be easier to use a CSC, if you could get the SC itself off the internet and see if ZZP will sell you the kit without it (which will probably bring the price down alot). Then you can think about adding an IC on your own time.

Go for it, that'* a good price, and a good size for a 3.8 engine. You could pull it off for 1k if you really wanted to, and got connections.

Hmm, I was hoping you would say 500$. Wish it was as simple as bolting it to the exhaust, cleaning some stuff up, then go.

You basically need to have the exhaust run into it, then out of it. You could maybe do it after the exhaust manifolds? I know some F bodies do it that way, where the downpipe would be.

You'd still need a decent pickup for cold air, and a strong pipe to the TB, and the injectors and PCM, but other then that you're good.

Instead of PCM you could find some boost fuel mapping thing too maybe?

you will probably want a new PCM anyway to change timing, speed limiters and what not. If you had an exhaust shop close to you with a mandrel bender you could probably get away with having the d-pipe go to the turbo, though you will probably want some better flowing manifolds or even headers anyway. Try to get someone from an exhaust shop to give you a quote or suggestions. You could have them use a mandrel bender to make a custom intake too.

They call it "Mini Turbo"

Yea, got a exhaust shop close to me, then this other shop called B&H Performance. I am going to go talk to them and see what they think about this stuff. If I could rig up something for around 500$, that would be sweet!
