Default suspension and brake swaps?

okay... I know alot of stuff is swappable across all of the Hbody line

I've got a 1986 delta88 Royal Brougham.... things I am looking for info on swapping

- aftermarket front brakes.... mainly looking @ slotted OEM size brakes from a diff H body that are bigger then mine... basically what do I need to do to swap these brakes on... and what year/models brakes swap over with relative ease (I don't mind having to make caliper adapters)

- possible Rear disc swap?... any of the other H bodies have disc'* worth swapping?... again I don't mind having to replace the whole rear IRS arms and stuff aslong as I don't have to totally remake mounting points.

- stainless braided lines for listed above

and finally... what years and models suspension will swap in (perferably from the late 90'*) ...I'm basically just looking for bolt in match up... for using airsuspension stuff. even if like a hole or two has to be moved or notched

basically what I'm looking to do is a simple kinda flashy daily driver lowrider...

thanks in advance

so I've been poking around on the brake and suspension thing

anyone know if any of these are even remotely close to bolting up? suspension wise that is

97-03 Chevy Malibu , 97-99 Olds Cutlass, 00-04 Chevy Monte Carlo, Impala, 97-03 Grand Prix, Century, Regal & Venture

basically what I'm looking for is 3.5 inch or so lower at factory hieght for said swapped springs/struts.... this is using air.. so at normal ride height I'll be 3.5 inchs or so lower and then be able to drop 4inchs or so for shows

was looking around cardomain for any cars that seemed they should be similar underpinning wise to my delta88 ...found a dude with a lesabre that used "97 Grand Prix parts" so he could swap over the 11inch front discs and the lower struts ... with his own "custom springs" (chopped and restretched, blah blah)

like I said before I don't mind making custom caliper mounts ... my main concern brake wise is that the disc fits the spindle

and as for suspension... aslong as MOST of the mounts line up I should be alright... it'll atleast get the parts orientated for me and I can make em fit from there.... my other option is full custom air Rod or bag with external shock.. and I really wanna stray from that

I'll measure a 97 malibu when my buddy anthony gets off work today.

I've measured my 87 and 93, they're the same.

Grand prix are simliar in weight to your car, maybe a smidge lighter. They also have Rear discs

But to do it right, you'll need to swap in GP front brakes, and their proportioning valve. DO NOT get an adjustable one, you'll cause more problems then you're solving.

Check out the Cadillacs Deville FWD 95-97 they came with rear disk brakes and the suspension is similar to the H Bodies.

okay... vehicle weight isn't that important to me right now.. I knew they were close enough to use an air system designed for a GP aslong as they mount up... but thank you.. it'* always good to be sure

okay as for mounting points for the suspension this is the big thing I am trying to find out...

strut mounting points for front and rear struts beween these cars ..... aka the ones listed and the H bodies .... so the guys that were measuring suspension arms and stuff.. don't worry about that... check to see if the top mount bolts and the spindle mount bolts are the same pleeeeaaaassseeeee thank you

also if you can... see if you can measure the stock length of the suspension at right height basically the lenght of the struts while your car is just sitting there

and (ofcourse theres more) ... see if the GP'* front rotors LOOK like they will fit on your bonnevilles... (clear mounts and spindle bits) ... I'm not really worried about rear disc'* for now...

sooo basically I just wanna know if **** fits..and what right height it'* at... cause the bonne'* and the GP'* look ALOT lower then my delta88 ... I'm hoping that'* suspension ride height and not just body panel illusions ... 4inchs of wheel gap and 9 inchs of under car clearance is kinda outragous

thanks again guys... maybe if we can get enough info together for me to gather parts to try and stuff ... another tech article can come outta this

okay so I've been thinking about how I can do this without cutting my springs and killing my wonderful F41 spring rates... and it came to me

I've kinda been thinking about getting new strut inserts..... now with the drained shells , and can crack the welds on the bracket that attaches to the knuckle and literally re weld it on the tubing 3-3.5 inchs higher up

which kinda brings up my next question... where exactly is the camber adjustments on the older 80'* H body? any idea if it'* capable stock of compensating for a 3.5inch drop?

I know it seems like alot of seemingly "stupid" questions ... but considering the LACK of options out there I'm trying to think of everything I can... WITHOUT cutting the coils

ofcourse if the stock bonneville F41 suspension is naturally 3-3.5 inchs lower then my delta it would make it so much easier...

after the suspension is worked out... I'll see what i can swap over brake wise... get some definates for the board
