Default IAT Tricking

This may be an old rehash of previous posts but I have an idea that just might work.

The old trick of using a resistor to replace the IAT sensor and fool the engine into thinking it was always 40 F intake air temp, so when the temps rise, the PCM does not retard the timing to control predetonation.
We have been told that this could be more than 2 degrees along with leaning it out.
It usually only works for a very short duration until the engine learns thru other sensors that it really should retard the timing and thus over-rides this trick.
I believe these other sensors to be knock sensors.
So if the knock sensors don't detect any knock, then the trick should work.

Are you catching my drift.?
The real trick is controlling the other variables by cooling the engine thru other means

So by using the trick to fool the engine into believing it is ingesting cooler air, it should run richer and full advance timing.......and if you are intercooling or boostcooling you should see a gain in power.
Love to hear some arguments.

Wouldn't the 02 also be one of the sensors that would work against the trick?

Yes probably but if you were cooling the charge after the intercooler, as with intercoolers and meth injection, even the O2 should not retard timing.
The only way this would work is with either of these two devices......or Nitrous.

Paul, would you really want to trick the knock sensors at all? Call me overcautious.. but I'm new to this and the thought of messing with those things kinda freaks me out.

This would not trick the knock sensors at all.
It should not be dangerous at all.
If anything, the engine will run a little richer.

I understand what your saying but. If your running richer b/c of the ait mod, then the O2 will sense that and adjust accordingly.
Are you trying to say that if the computer dosn't see any knock the timing will stay advanced and the fueling will just fix it'* self?
