Default Test fit SLICKS today

I got a great deal on some used Hoosier QTP'* through the ILGPC, met a couple of cool guys and have been hanging out time to time for a few cold ones
Was just going to "borrow" these for a track outing or 2 and since that conversation he blew up his motor. When I went to pick them up he wanted to give them to me, I tried to slip him some cash but he wouldn't take it. If I give these slicks away, I won't go to the track anymore, he told me. OK man if your sure, you know they'll be sitting in my garage waiting for you to ask for them back I told him.

Anyways only problem with them is one has a slight leak (another reason he wouldn't take any cash), went to 2 tire shops and neither would help patch it or anything, they did find one small pin hole size hole in the flat slick part. So today I tried some "tire slime" to seal it up. Not sure on how well it worked though. after I went for a little spin around the hood and practaced a launch or 2, I swaped back to stock and checked out the pinhole that was just barly spitting out slime. I could hear it wistling but when hole was on the bottom it would stop, so proped up the tire and hopefully the stuff will set-up and no more slow leak.

Stupid me payed 25 cents twice today to fill that bad boy up when Todd reminded me that I have the compressor in the trunk, I forgot about it, barly go into my trunk anymore with the system and all. Went and dug out my Pontiac accesory bag and worked like a charm. So even if it still leaks a little, no problem worring about where the free air is at the track. Mike, the guy I got the slick from was just adding a pound or 2 after every run on his 12.6 runs. 13.3 w/out them.

Here they are, they have 56 runs on them, still got a good 30-40 left to go.

This weekend going to test them out, if weather is nice going to Great Lakes Dragway Saturday and Byron on Sunday.

Can you say mid 13'*? my best run is a 14.10 with a 2.29 60' shooting for 13.6

Oh and can't forget, Thanks again Todd for your help today in answering my questions. Are these the same rims yours are on? I checked couple of your videos and it'* too hard to see or your on the outside lane and can't see.

Also, digital tire pressure gauges rule, just picked one up with the tire slime, whole slick project cost me under 15 bucks

Planing on it.

and yes there 16in. there the stock 5 star grand prix rims painted black,
size on slick says 26.0x9.50=16LT so it'* a little smaller than stock, ok by me, ups the gearing

Guy I got them from his best 60 was 1.78 with same exact tires , even if I pull a 1.9 thats almost 4 tenths better than my 2.29 and 3800'* rule is ever tenth cut is -2 on the et. If that'* true your talking .8 off my 14.1, I'l be happy with .5 off.

Just checked the slick with the leak and it seems to be fixed.

Now that you got the leak fixed I'll just swing by and pick them up.

Good luck this weekend. Even with a bad launch you should still be able to drop .1 on your 60' and .2 on your 1320' E.T.
Be sure to let us know how it all works out for you.

Damn!! I wish I had a little $$$ to make a trip out to Byron and see if I could pull a 2.2 60' and a 15.5 1/4.
Can't wait for next spring. I plan on making the trip to IDDVI. Hopefully I'll be running the first 14 second naturally aspirated L36 FW Bonneville. Of course, I'm really got my sites set on the ZZP stroker kit, so in a sense it wouldn't be a 3800 anymore.

Lucky for me I didn't tell you I left for Chicago at 6:00 this morning. I'm about 5 minutes away and need the directions from just down the road.

Hmm. I'm betting you'll be able to pull a 13.75, as long as you pull all the dynamat out with the rest of your system. J/K I'm betting you'll pull a 13.79-13.86 as long as you know how to get the best launch from those meats.

Yup, that was my guess before I even saw his.
13.8 @ 103
Hope you do better though.

BTW, I pulled a 2.2 sec 60 foot with my stock RSA'*.
Only reason, I think Taylor only got 2.3 was the weight of that killer sound system....and dynomat.....1/10 sec for every 100 lbs is what it costs.

.....or maybe it has more to do with track surface and weather conditions.
The Woodburn track we raced at had 1" thick of rubber coating it, and I thought it was extremely sticky, regardless of the 95 F heat.

Glad to see the leak seems fixed Taylor. Wait until you do the ELC trick and run about 15 lbs in the slicks. Youll like a 45 degree angle I get a lot of comments no how slammed the car looks.

Good luck with those times and I'm betting 13.7@101 with a 1.94 60.

The faster your 60 the lower your trap speed .
