Default Intake Owners...I need some info

I am really tempted to get an intake this year once I have some cash flow coming in. What I need to know is what affect this will have on my fuel economy. I have PMed some people to see how it worked for them, and I have gotten reports of up to 5-10mpg better than stock. With gas prices as high as they are this would be GREAT, as I usually fill up once a week.
What I need from you guys is the following:
1. Approximated miles-per-tank before and after
2. Estimated MPG before and after
3. Thoughts/comments/opinions
3. Anyone have a sound clip of an intake on a stock L27 or L36?

I want to do this as cheaply as possible, so I will probably go with the rice pipe that BonneMeMN found at Autozone.

Mike, your MPG will improve, but more like 2mpg, maybe 3 tops. And that'* if you keep your foot out of it. I can't give you solid numbers on my ADTR, but my stock modified/ported/ducted airbox with drop-in K&N gave me 2mpg on the freeway.

This wont work for about 4 or 5 minutes.

That'* smellbirds video from his L36. The metal pipe goes into his accordian tube. In real life it doesn't sound as refined as mine, because his isn't totally secure. His filter is also nearing the end.

Just the difference between the rattiest filter i've seen that we stole from Stylez' car for the trip, and my X-stream changed it completely. It sounds much more 'tuned' or european with the larger filter.

I think I can do it for under $100 easily. I just want some numbers to determine whether its worth it or not.

Totally worth it. My car doesn't feel like some fuel injected computer controlled slug anymore. It'* seriously awakened.

The pipe i picked up @ autozone works perfect, and the K&N is a dream.

The sucking noise @ warm up is just damn silly, and i get so many looks around campus. I've said it before, with that open filter, Once I nail it, it'* like lighting a fire, the thing sounds like a nice european car where they manufacturer designed the intake to sound good, and perform, not fail by the EGR. It runs smoother, shifts harder, has more power. I have to fight the urge to go driving all the time now.

I have a top of the line filter, and aluminum pipe, for $100.
