I've got The BFG Traction T/A'* (BFG = michelin btw) and another car in my family has had The Traction T/A'* and the G/Y Triple Treads.
BFG are better in rain, stopping, and over all grip. The Triple Treads have less contact area, but do have better ice handling, and probably will resist hydroplaning more, however hydroplaning isn't an issue with my Traction T/A'* yet.
To me, the performance is so similar, I couldn't find any justification for the extra $100 per set of 4 tires for the Triple Treads. Their tread pattern is similar to some of their g-Force line of tires as well.
If you're toe or camber angle was off enough to cause severe edge wear, you'll definitely be down on acceleration grip.
