Default Is it possible to....

I have a 1992 SSE and I was wondering if it is possible to gut my airbox. I looked through several threads and realized that I needed to remove the resonator and maybe the MAF screen, but when I opened up my airbox, I couldnt find any resonator or screen. All that was in there was my filter and a litle metal thing that I had to plug wires into. Im a car newbie so if Im missing something please help.[/i]

the maf screen is attached to the throttle body and held on by a spring clip ring, and there is no need to gut the airboxes on 92-95 as there is nothing in there!

the maf would sit right in here

I would suggest, however, that you do not remove the MAF screen, although it'* not as crucial if you're not supercharged. The SC needs the straightened airflow.

Backwards there TWM. The N/A doesn't have boost, and it' has an actuall intake plenum, and seperate runners. The L67 lower intake has one opening, and after entering the */C it'* changed. If i was getting more air on the right side of my throttle body, all of the left cylinders would be getting much more air then the right.

Biggest problem with pulling the maf screen is the MAF getting uneven readings. Every car is different, but a smoothed pipe will almost always work great with no screen.

The 95 DOES have a resonator in it.. I had to gut it out from Tamara'* 95 SE while back and open up the opening in the front to match the size of the openin on the frame.. man that hole was small.. and removed MAF screen.. it made a difference on her car.. and her car sounds Supercharged (even though it isn't.. ).. it'* even louder then mine which is */C'd
