Question Would like to upgrade my 93 Bonne

Helo,
I am thinking about upgrading my 93 Bonneville by adding the supercharger. Is it a pretty straight forward task or is there alot of modifications? I really want the performance of the SC model. I know of a 95 Bonneville with a good SC on it but I don't know or think it wil fit.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I have a white 94 SE and a 93 SE (I think, i just got it today and haven't really looked at it very close).

Thanks again,
Marc Hoflin

MHOFLIN;

Please add your year and trim of your vehicle to your signature line. That way when you start asking questions in other areas of the forum, we all have a better idea on how to assist you. Click on "Quick Links" above, go down to "User Control Panel" and then click on "Edit your Signature" It'* pretty straight forward from there.

Oh yeah...have fun in here!

Neither your 93 nor your 94 can be supercharged as that link explains. Your engine is a bit more simple, though it still has some of the old GM stuff where cooling tubes randomly run all over the place and cause inconveniences in tearing down and building back up the engine. Both the non-supercharged and the supercharged engines from your Bonnevilles have the same compression but slightly weaker rods and pistons, and I think the heads are the same. You need just "a few" parts and a reprogrammed PCM to make it work. It'* a bit more complicated for Series 1 cars because it hasn't been researched much.

I assume the parts list would be everything except for the shortblock, heads, and timing cover. Even the alternator bracket is different! The alternator for the supercharged engine is moved back toward the firewall, and that bracket also holds the power steering pump and some idlers. The PS pump moves down to make room for the alternator, so you'll need different PS hose routing and the like.

If you're really interested in this and are honestly considering it, I've just taken apart my 94 Bonneville and have available the bracket, power steering pump, alternator, supercharger, not yet the throttle body, and pretty much most sensors. You should be able to keep your AC compressor. First talk to Sinister Performance to see what you'll need, and they should let you know. Oddly, I live 2 hours away from them...

Yes, I am really interested in accomplishing this. What do you want for the parts?

I will contact sinister ASAP.

Thanks for the info.

You will lack the LIM for this if you go with my parts. One benefit is that there'* an earlier LIM version that gives you more power. Also lacking would be the throttle body, TB sensors, and some other things that I know I've seen but can't recall. The TB should be available soon. Please consider that this is going to be a horribly trouiblesome ordeal with a lot of downtime and research. Considering this, you may buy the parts I have. Just make an offer. PM if you'd like.

My supercharger was rebuilt 2 years ago and has 12,000 miles on it. It has an Intense supercharger coupler, and that lasts much longer than the OE coupler. You'll need more supercharger oil, and you should be good to go with that. You should check to see if some of the parts like the PS pump and such will transfer over so you just buy what you need. One great way to do this is to go to RockAuto.com and see which engine parts have the same part numbers between the supercharged and NA engines. I'll go do that too.
