Default auto-manual?

just a short question........i have a 90 sse and i was wondering.... to get quicker acceleration, is it possible to shift manually through each gear (1,2, d, Od) without breaking anything? i figured its better to ask than to blow a tranny. lol im new to driving so please dont tease me too badly !

Agreed, esp on an older tranny. Your 90 SSE needs to be kept up with a lot of TLC, so let the tranny gearing determine is own shifting, you'll be better off and it will maintain the transmission so you can keep enjoying the car.

oh and welcome to BonnevilleClub

I did that at the track to see if it was any faster. I think it was .01-.02 faster. So it really not even worth doing.

so the only real disadvantage of an auto transmission is that they are lazy off the line?

If you want quicker shifts just get a shift kit.
