Originally when I talked to summit racing they told me I needed the tach adaptor so I ordered some. After looking through the instruction manual I had doubts I needed them so I contacted MSD directly and they told me that I do NOT infact need them. So basically no, you don't need them.

you dont need the tach adapters but you should get the coil adapters if you dont want to cut any of your original wires. they make for a very easy install of the dis-4 and the option to change it back to factory at any time.

So how many of you have actually got this installed now?
I have the DIS4 and coil adapters sitting in front of me. I have been looking over the installation directions and I am still a little onfused at how exactly it all hooks together. If anyone has any pictures, relevant schematics, advice, etc... I would appreciate it. I would have someone install it for me but I just can't see spending the $$$ when I might be able to do it myself.

Well I should be installing mine sunday. I'll keep up with this thread and if you don't have it installed by then post something here so I get an email reminder. I'll take pictures all along the way incase you're not done by then.

Sweet, Thanx.
I'll probably be doing mine sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. I have some replacement cables on order for my code scanner (due anyday now) so I want to get data on my ride before I mess with it.
Pictures would be awsome. I am a very "visual" type person and I can get a lot from them.

What I was hopeing to do as well was make a tech info doc on how to install the DIS4 on a 3800. This way those who are not as mechanically minded will have a shot at doing it themselves as well.
