Default BIG QUESTION...TIRES/WHEELS...NEED HELP?

Ladies and Gents,

Here'* my question/problem. I recently purchased new 18" Eco Mia Chrome Rims to upgrade my 01 SSEi. I'm looking for tires. I really want the 255/45/ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/*. However, the minimum rim width recommended by the tire manufacturer is 8" and my new rims are 18 X 7.5 in. I know BMW did a simliar thing by putting 8" minimum recommended tires on a 7.5 in rim with their M3 in 95 and 96.

The guys at the tire place tell me they'll mount fine and that I'll just have a slight overhang (1/4 in) on each side but that it won't ride worse, handle worse, or affect the tread life. What do you guys think? Please let me know.

Later,
Jason

The tire guys must know what they are talking about. And BMW certainly knows how to equip cars...go for it.

My opinion: Listen to Michelin, they know a LOT about tires.

Jus to be safe, check with a couple more tire places to see what they have to say. The biggest problem you should run across with this plan would be a couple more places saying "Those tires would look real good on these wheels..." Butt a second, third or even fourth opinion wouldn't hurt.
