Default question

what kind of an effect would a perform muffler have on my stock car? more than likely i would keep the stock hardware and just put a new muffler and possibly a high flow-cat.what kind of an effect would a high flow cat have?
and to order either one of those i would just take measurements on my stock muffler/cat and order one with those same dimensions right?
sorry for coming off as ignorant, thats mostly because i am,im new to the car world, but the only way to learn ne thing is to ask questions, get answers, and listen to the old guys talk

Actually the best way to learn stuff is through research.

Agreed, people here have gone all different routes when it comes to mufflers and exhuast, some swear by Flowmaster, I personally have a MagnaFlow, and I'm happy with it.

Some of the major ones you should look into is DynoMax, Ravin, Flowmaster and MagnaFlow.

I pesonally suggest the 80 series Flowmaster muffler. It is a exact match for the 3800. It looks and sounds excellent. If you want to hear what one sounds like I can email you a clip of the sound. Just email me (SUBJECT:FlowMaster Clip) Russianpolarbear@hotmail.com.

I'll make an audio clip of mine...using my digi cam. I'll post it once I figure out how my old camera records audio

Mine rumbles really nicely, and mellow is a decent way to describe it. Plus I have no resonator, so that ups the volume abit

My Magnaflow sounds really nice, except I'll get a hi-flow CAT when I can, to up the volume. But the sound it makes when I start it and it sits in park or idle is just like the stock sound but louder. That'* what I wanted. A nice low 'gurgle' or 'rumble.'

I've heard good things about Flowmaster, but I'm happy with mine. It'* a matter of opinion I guess.

For my system in total...bear in mind I bought my cat first...the previous one is another story....cost me about $700 clams, for the Denali polished stainless tip, Magnaflow muffler and 12' of stainless steel bent pipe. Thats the installed price
