Default Amsoil EA Universal filter substituted on 2000+ FWI

Just wanted to give a heads-up for anyone who is curious... MyLittleBlackBird and I recently installed an Intense FWI on my dad'* 2002 SSEi and substituted an Amsoil EA universal cone filter for the K&N. I believe the dimensions of the 3.5" inlet, 9" tall filter are the same as the K&N Intense usually uses, and my dad liked the Amsoil for the fact that it filters a little better and doesn't need to be re-oiled. Every thing fit very nicely, and Amsoil seems like a quality filter with pretty solid construction.

We ordered the filter through LakevilleSSEi, and he was great to deal with. If anyone has been thinking about substituting an Amsoil filter for a K&N, you can at least know Nate will hook you up and that the filter has no fitment issues.

[end shameless plug]

so you have a spare K&N laying around? or did you buy the kit parts separate and not get the filter?

No spare filter... when we ordered the FWI from Intense I had them omit the filter and ordered from Nate instead. I really like the fact that you don't have to oil it and you can clean it with a shop vac or with compressed air. I don't think they last as long as a K&N, and they don't flow quite as much air, but they filter better.
