Can someone explain the levels of suspension these cars came with? I have yet to check my RPO but I assume it'* FE1 (97SE) since it'* so soft. I definitely want to upgrade struts and maybe springs IF it'* worthwhile. I don't want air struts, btw. What does the SSE come with, the SSEi? I like the way my soaks up bumps and would hate to end up with a bone jarring ride but I hate the way it dives and dips and wobbles around. Maybe a sway bar too??

Any experience with MOnroe or KYB struts? How many different springs came with the bonneville?? Thanks!!

FE1 - suspension, soft ride
FE2 - suspension, ride and handling
FE3 - suspension, sport
F41 - Suspension system, front/rear, firm ride & handling

if you don't want the more "bone jarring" or "sports car like" suspension.. don't get the KYB GR2'* (unless they've decided to valve the H body cars different then all the other ones they've made)or atleast not on all 4 corners... get the sensatracs... and either find a set of F41 springs or a set of aftermarket springs (all I've found so far specifically for the H body cars is Domestic performance) ... and if your car doesn't have the sway bars... get em. they help quite a bit

I've personally got F41 stock in my delta88 I love the spring rates and damping .. can feel the road but it'* not super sensitive... and it'* comfy but not floaty... but it'* not enough for me and I'm upgrading... now if your still looking for springs, after I get my upgraded parts in and decide I like them I'm gonna be selling atleast my springs ... the only problem I can see going from the delta to bonne is height... my delta seems to sit ALOT higher then the bonne'* I dunno if that'* just mounts, and body lines playing tricks... or if it'* the height if the actual springs.... as for the stock struts... I personally don't like buying (or selling) used suspension equipment... but they still work beautifully and if someone wants them after they come out ... I'll sell em pretty cheap

The suspensions are setup like this.

FE1 Softest spring rates , hollow swaybars.
FE2 Upgrades from FE1- Mid to stiffer spring rates, solid and thickers sways
F41 Upgrades from FE2 - Stifest spring rates

Personally the spring rate that came on my FE1 car (there are about for spring rates in each setup) is too soft for any driving style on the H body. Bumps were bad because it was too soft. Going to the stiffer of the FE2 springs helped IMENSLY in the front with bump compliance and dips, and such. I don't believe you have to have a crazy stiff car to make it turn nicely, anyone who'*

The sway bars are probably the biggest improvement to actual car handling/lap times. Paired with performance endlinks you're car will have very little body roll when cornering.

I'm planning on going with the monroe struts because I want to have adjustable Damping rates. I'd REALLY like adjustable bound and rebound, but i doubt that'll happen.

I have FE1 on my Cutlass and it'* way too soft for me as well. Not to mention my rear struts are shot anyway, but it'* not like it was on my Bonne (FE2). The strut bars help a great deal as well.

I can't wait to upgrade. I think you'll find it worthwile if you upgrade too.

which monroe struts for the Hbody are adjustable?.... the sensatracs are the closest thing I know and they self auto adjust their valving to the road conditions

When the struts are replaced, what is the cost for this?
Also, the anti-sway bars have rubber bushings and I'm wondering if there are any poly type replacements for these...?

It would be nice if my SSE handled a 'little' better.

I think new struts can be a bit pricey. after 150k miles, mine are still ok, but I would like to get a better suspension from another bonne sometime in the future.
