New JMBPerformance intake
I got the intake for JMBPeformance this afternoon and installed it when I got home from work. Over all it'* a nice piece. The PCM is wrapped in heat shield and zip tied for now. The little L bracket that came with the intake doesn't look to good, so I'm going to get the PCM tray from Chevy.

It sounds great under heavy throttle, but to my dismay, under light throttle you can hear injector ticking resonating through the intake. The Injen intake on my previous G6 did the same thing. Also, it is made from exhaust tubing and gets pretty warm to the touch after city driving. I haven't gotten my AerForce gauge yet, so I'm not sure of the IAT temps. I'm a little regretful that I didn't get the Intense FWI. I will run this one for a month and if I really don't like it, I'll sell it on Ebay and get the Intense FWI.

I was a little curious about the heat transfer. Do you think getting one thermal coated would make a difference. I've been contemplating getting and intake but not sure might wait and see how you like it and what the reading are when you get it scanned. I really like the look of this intake though. Nice and clean,

for as beautiful as these things are, i dont think JMB has sold many...
i WILL be getting my hands on one soon, anything and i mean anything has to be better than my PVC POS thinger
thermal coated might perform better than the sweet chrome i was planning on...hmm

Might be time to clarify something. The coatings you'd put on headers and exhaust components are designed to hold the heat IN.
You want to insulate your intake from the heat getting in. There'* a big difference. Even putting header wrap on an intake pipe might hurt you in the long run, as the pipe WILL heat up over time and hold that heat.
I have mine wrapped in reflective thermal insulation, and plan to re-wrap it sometime this weekend if I get the other work done in time.
Perhaps the best product out there is this:

I always thought that thermal coatings help reduce radiant heat. I don't see how a thermal coated intake pipe won't be better then a powder coated one. If your getting cool air from the fender well and have hot radiant heat from the manifolds I would think it would reduce the amount of heat transfer into the pipe and in turn reduce IAT'*. I may be wrong.
