94 ssei vs 96 ssei
what is the difference betweent the 94 ssei and the 96 ssei? where do the extra 15 hp come from? is it worth saving $ to get the 96?

The 96 has a different body, and some other things.
Some quirks too, the headlights for example, are tool free on the 94, not so on the 96
If you're gonna get a series II supercharged car, get a 97 or later if modding. It'll have a 4t-65e tranny.

I'll disagree. The 96 would be preferable over the 97, as the 4T60E has far fewer problems and lasts much longer. We've seen that time and time again here. Unless you're seriously modding, and have deep pockets, stick with the 96.

Actually there is a 94 in the paper for 4500 canadian. What are the torque figures on the 94? Is there a large performance advantage of a 96+ over a 94?

I'm a 4t-60e boy, but if you're planning on modding (not bolt on stuff) get a modable tranny.
Otherwise yes the 60'* are more reliable.
I believe torque is 260 ft/lbs for the 94/95 engine.

I'm not sure what this tool free headlight stuff is?? i've never had to use any tools on mine?? lol. The 96 headlights are by far superior. The glass is clear compared to the foggy look of the 95- headlights..so you can see everything inside.. "new hottness" The 96 also has the series 2 L67.. which is the same engine in the 2004 SSEi'* ..why not have the updated version?? yup! What colors are these cars, btw?

96 is full OBD2, Series 2 for all models, and the last year of the 4T60E.
93 is the last year of true OBD1, with the PCM flash feature, and full on-board diagnostics on the ECC.
