93 PA Rod knock.
Well the other day I was in a rush to get somewhere, so I started the car on a 20 degree morning and took off. Got about 1/2 a mile from my house and I could hear a consistant knock right around 4,000+ rpms. So I drove it to my shop a few miles away and picked up my other car.
Now I am planning on just dropping the pain and throwing new rod bearings in. The car was free for me since it was from a customer who didn't want to repair a blown AC clutch. So I don't plan on throwing a ton of money at this thing. Since I got it, it has always had ,what I thought, low oil pressure when it has been ran for 30+ minutes. At idle the oil pressure light would flicker on and off.
Basically I'm asking if anyone thinks it would be worth slapping bearing into this thing and calling it a day since It has about 2 drivin miles with a knock, or if I should just cut my losses and sell it. I'm a very capable mechanic of doing pretty much anything so I'm very open minded to suggestions. I just don't want to pour money into this thing.

If your looking to keep it as a daily driver and can do the work your self, then ya, it'* worth swapping them. If you looking to fix it and sell it, the value of the car is so low it'* hardly worth the effort. So what you do is really up to what your future plans or the car is.

Yea I guess you're right. It is my first first V6 though and it'* */Ced which makes it to be pretty fun. Plus I added a nice dual exhaust setup on it so it'* hard to let go.
So you think it would be worth just slapping bearings in it? I really don't want to dump complete rebuild type of money into it. It'* not really a daily driver. Just something different to get me out of my DSM once in awhile.

It depends on what a set of rod bearings will cost for that engine. I personally enjoy working on engines, so I would do it. I'd pull the engine and have it on the stand, much easier that way.

I can get rod bearing for $25 for the set. And I like you also love building engines. My last was a full rebuild on my DSM engine which I did while I was waiting for my license to be restored. But since I am planning on buying another house soon and I just got married, funds are a bit limited so I'm trying to keep the cost down.
Thanks for the help. You and a few select others on here seem to really know your stuff and enjoy what you do from looking at your multiple other threads offering How-tos and advice. So I'm glad you responded.

$25 isn't all that bad. Throw a oil pan gasket on that and you should have all you need. Should be able to get that done in a day. A good running engine makes selling it much easier.

Are you sure its rod bearing noise and not main bearing?

Bearings, pan gasket, oil + filter, and a little rtv black or orange silicone in the gaskets main corners and away you go! I prefer a hair in the corners as a added safety.

Well I spun a rod bearing. It blows. The crank has a small gouge in it. I'm just gonna slap bearings in it and sell it. Hopefully I can get a decent chunk out of it and go buy a GSX. Any idea where I can just get one rod bearing?
