Default Resonator

Hi All,

I will be installing the dual exhaust off an SLE onto my SE and I am wondering if many people have removed the resonator that is just behind the cat and the O2 sensor?

How much louder was the exhuast note and did it help with any performance increase?

Thanks!

Very loud. You will not be able to enjoy music in your car.

bonnyguy, please put your year and trim level in your signature.

I ADDED a resonator to my car. It originally didn't have one. It'* much better now.

i dont think that removing the resonator will make a HUGE difference, however i have no firsthand experience and i dont know anyone that has a 00+ SLE/SSEi with a resonator delete....

edit: you will experience no performance gain by removing it unless you do some SERIOUS modifications to your engine

I can witness the before and after of Willwren'* car first hand and the res is the way to go.

Many people that dont have a resonator on their 3800 complain of cabin drone.

I think it sounds deeper and pops and crackles more(which is a good thing)
I've gotten nothing but compliments and there is a little drone but I like it.

the middle ground between res and no res would be to replace the resonator with a similarly sized glassplack would it not?

i think that would increase the overal volume but probably do away with alot of the popping and crackling, which i for one do not enjoy hearing a car do.
