filter for gutted airbox?
so over holiday break i am planning on gutting my airbox and dropping in a new filter. the K&N from checker is $60, and the Purolator Air Filter is 11.99
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...Type=2&PTSet=A
the Purolator Pure One Air Filter is 20.99
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...Type=2&PTSet=A
any difference between the 2 Purolators? are these improvements over the stock filter?

I don't have any experience with the Purolators, but if you're getting the K&N, get it from www.ajusa.com. You won't find it cheaper anywhere else and I believe shipping is free.

I'm using the Amsoil EaA filter and I like it alot. Doesn't need to be oiled like the K&N. It costs less than $40.00. There is a member that is an authorized vendor.

Well if you go purolator...which is the filter I'd recommend for anything available...go with the PureONE. Stick with it for oil filters, air filters, PCV valves, fuel filters, etc. Purolator in my mind would be OE Good quality...if you want premium, go with K&N products or, if you prefer, Amsoil.

K&N and Amsoil will allow better airflow and filtration than stock. I don't know about Puralator, so can't say. To get max benefit from gutted airbox, you will want better airflow than stock allows.
