Default 2005 SE aftermarket Muffler

I am trying to decide what after market muffler I going to put on my 2005 SE. I've had flowmasters on a 2003 Monte Carlo and it sounded terrible, but it had a 3.4 in it. (Yeah I know flowmasters on a 3.4, dumb idea, but I was young then) How do they sound on the 3.8 and how much of an improvement will it be. I probally won't mess with the intake, I already have a K&N in there.

Thanks

my buddy has a 97 grand prix gt which also has a series 2 3800. He put a flow master 40'* on it, In my opinion it sounded great, at idle it has a very low and deep sound that doesnt sound real loud, but it screams when he gets on it
