I actually used a high temp paint that rapells heat and keeps it off whats painted. I only have it in the red that I did mine in. Its made by VHT and is a commerical use only. So most public can't get it unless you ahve a charge account at carquest. Which is my case, I have a account. I understand that it won't keep out 100% but it will sure help. Aluminum tubing is 10.00 to 12.00 a foot. So I'm keeping the cost down by using aluminized exhaust tubing. Keeps it from rusting and paints really easy and turns out great. I do understand how the aluminum works with heat totally. But this is going to be really close and in all honesty how many hp difference is there going to be? .20 or .50 hp? 1hp? For the money you would save could go towards better mods. I'm not pushing this at all, I'm just saying save 50.00 to 150.00 on buying mine and put money else where.
thanks
Craig

IMO>>>>> While all this sounds good for armchair physicists......I rolling my eyes up big time here. When the Raw CFM across a smooth wall is taken into consideration under a WOT, everything I've read through this thread is manure. Pure and unadulterated. You aren't changing a thing with materials and coatings given the air flow. Heatsoak? From a very short Pipe with quick air moving through it? Matching the diameter of the TB bore and keeping it as free from angled obstructions are the only real appreciable benefits. I find it funny people are worried about controlling a temperature degree or two of air, and something never proven; and totally ignore raw proven physics. Bends in the piping, especially deep angled ones of "rice pipes" dramatically hinder air flow. Yet I see people using angle'* regardless of what age old air dynamics tells us, and pondering about temperature elevation across several feet of smooth piping at High CFM.

Heat soak will happen no mater what you use. The difference you will see simply wont mater enough to be concerned about it. The intake is fine. The best you can do is make the intake as large as possible. I have a 4" intake. This makes the engine work less drawing in air.

or for the 2000 + guys, buy 2 feet of intense tubing, and pick up the 3.5" clamp on K and N at advance autoparts and a $15 coupler online, then, some 3" PVC tubing as a clamp on coupler and your good to go for $80.....

I agree totally with the air temp, its just that I considered it a little more since I used steel tubing. I figured it wouldn't hurt to use a heat treated paint that blocks some heat. If anybody is still interested I can do the kits for 150.00 and shipping would be about 15.00. Just give me a heads up as I have the parts I need, I just have to order the other stuff.
Thanks

Just wanted to point this out. When you first said arond $100 it was a great deal. But at $150 we can now buy one direct from Intesnse with the K&N filter and all necessary tubing etc for $170. Not so great of a deal considering with Intesnse if something goes wrong you know they will back their products

I made a error with carquest. They quoted me a decent price and when they got the stuff in and charged it out to my account which they weren't supposed to do until i checked everything over. They gave me the price at their cost not my cost on my account discount. I will set the final price now. 150.00 for everything including shipping. If you want a special or different color add 5.00. If you want a clear coat add 3.00. If you just want a red one like mine its 150.00. If you want a blue one and want a clear coat, then your total is 158.00. I'm not making much over head on these guys, but they look great and are built with quality parts on my end. It comes with the reusable/washible filter. Not sure the brand.
thanks.

You were mis-informed.. Anything that fits a grand prix does not always fit a bonneville...the K&N kit you bought isn't made for the bonneville, so that is why it does not fit.

Return it and I will sell you a better one for less $$$.. look at this thread:
